Media personality and host of Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ political show, Okatakyie Kwame Afrifa Mensah is the official emcee of the upcoming African Legends Night (ALN) slated for Saturday, September 28, 2019.

African Legends Night is a musical concert held annually with the aim of recognizing and celebrating African musicians who are considered living legends.

The Asante-Agona Oyokohene is not new to the African Legends Night, having hosted the seventh (7th) edition which saw Kojo Antwi, Samini and Daddy Lumba joining the legends of the African Legends Night.

Speaking ahead of the event, Kwame Afrifa Mensah said he is coming on board with close to a decade of experience in broadcasting, presentation and emceeing.

“I have only one goal, and that one goal is to bring the best

out of the African Legends Night audience. Give the show a great start and charm my audience with entertainment, from start to finish, and give a finale that leaves them with big smiles’’ he said.

According to him he will engage the audience with his exuberance, wit and charm.

The 8th Edition of the African Legends Night, to be held at the Dome Accra International Conference Centre (AICC),

will for the first time feature two foreign African music greats on the same stage in one night; Awilo Longomba, the soukous Congolese superstar and one of Nigeria’s most decorated musicians, 2Face also known as 2Baba.

The two will be joined by a team of Ghanaian music greats led by Mr. Music Man Kojo Antwi.

The event has over the years celebrated legends such as the Late Hugh Masekela of South Africa, Femi Kuti of Nigeria, Freddy Meiway of Ivory Coast, Kanda Bongo Man of Congo, Yvonne Chaka Chaka of South Africa, Ghanaian legends Amakye Dede, George Darko, Ben Brako among others.

Host of Ayeeko After Drive on Happy FM will be the DJ for the night.

Award winning Radio Presenter, DJ Advicer of Happy FM has been billed as the official DJ to treat patrons with good music at 2019 African Legends Night at 28th of September, 2019 at the Grand Arena Dome at Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

African Legends Night is a musical soiree held annually with the aim of recognizing and celebrating African musicians who are considered living legends.

The Eighth (8th) edition will for the first time feature two foreign African music greats on the same stage in one night; Awilo Longomba, the soukous Congolese superstar and one of Nigeria’s most decorated musicians, 2Baba (2Face Idibia) as well as Ghana’s own Kojo Antwi.

Speaking ahead of the event DJ Advicer said: ‘’I have an incredible ability to please any audience. What I will do on the turntables will be utterly incredible. I intend to keep patrons on the dance floor and ready for the Legends on the bill.’’

DJ Advicer has won numerous awards including the best music promoter three times in a row.

e.TV Ghana on Sunday September 15, 2019, premiered a new show, Time with Citizens that is to be broadcasted at 7pm every Sunday.

Time with Citizens is a 30minute social intervention show where the host seeks out ordinary individuals in various localities in Ghana and interviews them. These individuals who are mainly women talk about their life’s and what they aspire to achieve.

These women receive a total makeover before they are interviewed as most of them are having their first TV appearance in front of the camera.

I’m thrilled to further explore the beauty, pain and triumph of these women, with hopes that their story will continue to resonate with audiences who see themselves in them,” said host of the show Adwoa Boatemaa Boateng (ABB). “It’s a real honor to create this work with e.TV Ghana as their support is rock-solid and wonderful.”

The show is geared towards raising awareness about the harsh realities some of these women live and survive in and to prompt policy makers to take a step in alleviating their burden.

e.TV Ghana and Japan Motors Corporate Run came off on Saturday 21st September at Silver Star Towers.

The annual 5km Run, saw over Three hundred (300) participants from various Corporate Institutions in Ghana coming together to run, walk, network and promote a healthy lifestyle through team building and physical activities.

The run started around 6:30am and saw the runners run through a mapped-out route from the Silver Star Towers Airport City to 37 Station, continuing to the El-Wak traffic light, then to the Airport roundabout, to the Airport traffic light and finished at the Silver Star Towers.

The fastest CEO (Male) award went to Winston Nelson Jnr of Allianz Ghana Reginald Ashitey of Blue Skies won the fastest managers male category with fastest Manager female category going to Eunice Hansen-Sackey of Global Media Alliance Group (GMA).

The fastest man and woman awards were grabbed by Asigbey Tony and Agnes Bayor both of Blue Skies.

Aaron Majusen won the fastest runner over sixty years (60). Brown Nii Kwei from the Ghana Blind Union (GBU) also won the fastest visually impaired runner with a record time of 33 minutes 5 seconds.

Brown Nii Kwei received Ghana’s Ambassador to China, H.E Edward Boateng’s One Thousand Ghana cedis (GHc 1000) cash prize.

Fankies Food and Room won the coveted Yamaha Motorcycle from Japan Motors as the fastest Corporate Team.

Speaking on the side-lines of the Corporate Run, Programmes Manager of e.TV Ghana, Nosisa Doe said: “The e.TV Ghana and Japan Motors Corporate Run has once again created the environment for people to network and exercise with others in the corporate industry. We had a thrilling moment as this year’s event featured a dancing competition which saw the winners receive complimentary tickets to the upcoming African Legends Night.

Next year’s Corporate Run will mark the tenth anniversary of this event and it promises to be even bigger and better. Until then, I will encourage everyone to maintain a healthy lifestyle.”

According to Mrs. Nosisa Doe, GHc 7 from each registration has been set aside and an additional sum of Two Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 2000) from H.E Edward Boateng will be donated to the Ghana Blind Union.

On his part, Mr. Salah Kweku Kalmoni, Event Director of Corporate Run, commended all the Corporate Institutions that took part in the run. “We appreciate all the corporate institutions that participated in this year’s event. We are truly thankful to all our sponsors for partnering with us to make the Corporate Run successful.” he said.

Mr. Brown Nii Kwei who won the fastest blind runner expressed gratitude to the organizers.

‘’It is very nice when Corporate Institutions or individuals support our course by donating to us. But what e.TV Ghana and Japan Motors are doing is giving us inclusion and that is exceptional.” he said.

The Management of Ghana’s number one sports station, Happy FM together with its Listeners’ Association has commissioned an ultra-modern washroom facility for the Pantang Hospital.

The ceremony which was held on Wednesday August 28, 2019 brought together the founding members of the Happy FM Listeners’ Association, Management and staff of Happy FM, Management, staff and some patients of the Pantang Hospital.

Explaining the reason for embarking on this journey with Happy FM, Chairman of the Happy FM Listeners’ Association, Mr. Sengo Kwadzo Eliajah said:

“Happy FM is our favourite station as we always call into their programmes due to their human-interest content. We came together as a group, went to Pantang Hospital to ask what we could do to help them and they requested for a washroom. We then went to Happy FM and told them about our findings; within a few months, we had completed the project and today we are here to hand it over to the hospital as a contribution from Happy FM and its Listeners’ Association.”

According to Mr. Sengo Kwadzo Eliajah, the Happy FM Listeners’ Association is vibrant is because of the leadership of Global Media Alliance Group (GMA) and their culture of inclusion which has provided the association a platform to be part of development of the Happy FM success story.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Global Media Alliance Group, Mr. Ernest Boateng thanked the Management of Pantang Hospital for giving Happy FM the opportunity to help the vulnerable in society as part of the core values of Happy FM.

“I have to thank Pantang Hospital for this opportunity to help them serve the vulnerable in society. Let me also thank the Happy FM Listeners’ Association for their continuous support to the station”, he said.

“A hospital is a place of healing and therefore hygiene should be an integral part of that environment. We are here today through our collective efforts to Commission and hand over this ultra-modern washroom facility for the use by the Pantang hospital staff and patients. I am encouraging everyone to accept people living with mental health challenges; let’s not stigmatise anyone with one mental health condition or the other.” Mr. Boateng stated.

“On behalf of the leadership of Happy FM adopting Pantang Hospital, we will use the resources at our disposal to address some of the challenges of the Hospital to elevate it to a befitting health facility of its stature” he added.

The Deputy Director of Pantang Hospital Lena Anane Abebrese also thanked Happy FM for the initiative.

“I am grateful to Happy FM for assisting us with one of our urgent needs. I want to encourage the general public to visit the hospital for treatment because Pantang is not for only persons with mental health issues. We have a maternity clinic, dental clinic and a general Out Patient Department (OPD) that treat various diseases” she said.

The administrator of the hospital, Alex Kissi said “I can assure you that we will take good care of this edifice so as to encourage you to do more for us. I would like to thank the CEO of GMA and all his staff for adopting our hospital.”
